A guide with a narrow focus
Benedict exists for people who want to understand where Eggs Benedict is treated as more than a generic brunch line. The index looks at a fixed selection of addresses in each city and gives each one an editorial score. It is designed as a useful starting point for travellers, local regulars, and anyone comparing the dish across cities—not as a booking platform or a live restaurant directory.
The guide is deliberately specific. A city can be strong for breakfast in general and still have few convincing Benedicts. Conversely, a small hotel kitchen or neighbourhood café can earn a high place through a balanced plate, precise eggs, thoughtful seasoning, and a setting that makes sense for the dish.
How we score
Each score considers Hollandaise, the poached egg, the base, the topping, the overall composition, and the place itself. The score is not a promise that every visit will be identical; restaurants change teams, menus, suppliers, and opening hours. It is an editorial assessment of the dish and experience at the time of review, expressed on one comparable scale across the index.
Editorial independence
Benedict does not sell placement, sponsored scores, or shared titles. A restaurant cannot buy its way into a higher position. If you spot a factual error, such as an address or a venue that has closed, please tell us. Corrections help the guide stay useful; they do not change the editorial independence of the score.
